What Clarity does

Clarity is an educational application that generates short animated video explanations of concepts using AI. You can search any topic and receive a visual explanation with narration.

Information we collect

  • Google Sign-InIf you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google. We use these only to identify your account and display your avatar.
  • Search queriesThe concepts you search are sent to our servers to generate video explanations. Queries are cached to serve future users faster. We log which topics are searched in aggregate to understand usage patterns.
  • Rate limitingA hashed, non-reversible fingerprint of your IP address is stored temporarily to enforce fair usage limits. Raw IP addresses are never stored.
  • Usage dataWe do not track page views, use advertising cookies, or sell data to third parties.

How we use your information

  • To authenticate you and associate your conversation history with your account
  • To generate video content in response to your searches
  • We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing

Third-party services

Clarity uses the following services to operate:

  • Supabase — stores your account data and conversation history. Hosted in the US.
  • Anthropic (Claude) — generates video scripts from your search queries. Queries are subject to Anthropic's privacy policy.
  • ElevenLabs — converts narration text to speech audio. Text is subject to ElevenLabs' privacy policy.
  • Google OAuth — used for sign-in only. We request read-only access to your basic profile.
  • Vercel — hosts the application. Standard server access logs may be retained per Vercel's policy.

Data retention

Your conversation history is stored as long as you have an account. You can delete your account and all associated data by contacting us. Anonymous generation history lives only in your browser's local storage and is never sent to our servers.

Cookies

Clarity uses a single session cookie set by Supabase to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics cookies.

Children

Clarity is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
